A plant is a thoughtful gift that's still going long after the wrapping paper has gone. Hardy succulents such as sedum and houseleeks make especially good plant gifts. They're easy to look after and happy on a windowsill or outdoors, so they suit keen gardeners and first-time plant owners alike.
Little gifts and stocking fillers
A single succulent in a colourful pot makes a lovely stocking filler or Secret Santa present, and it works well as a thank-you too. We have Sedum 'Coral Reef' in a yellow pot, Lemon Coral sedum in a pink pot, the cobweb houseleek in a green pot, hens and chicks in a white pot, and Sedum rupestre trailing from a small blue pot.
Something a little special
For a gift with a bit more presence, choose a houseleek in a ceramic pot. No two of our coffee drip-glaze pots are quite the same. They come singly or as a set of three, with or without a wooden tray. The crackle-glaze pots come with a bamboo tray in a range of colours, from mustard and sky blue to sage green and coral pink.
Gift sets
Our set of six succulents in sleek black square pots is easy to share out between friends or colleagues, or you can line them up along a windowsill. The mini succulent gift set puts sedums and houseleeks together in cheerful coloured pots.
For keen gardeners
The hardy sedum variety box has twelve rooted sedums in greens, golds, reds and silvery blues. Each one is wrapped individually and ready to plant in a rockery, border or pot, or even on a small green roof.
Care tips to pass on
- Keep them somewhere bright, like a sunny windowsill indoors or a sunny spot outside.
- Water only when the compost has dried out, and never leave them standing in water.
They're hardy, so they can live outside all year as long as the pot drains well.
